Halifax-based duo “Mama’s Broke” consists of the considerable talents of Amy Lou Keeler and Lisa Maria. “Folk-without-borders,” they brazenly classify their music, based on harmonies, guitars, and other acoustic instruments. For more than a decade these one-time buskers have forged a fabulous acoustic fusion inspired by everything from Anglo/Irish traditional balladry to Eastern European instrumentals. Their debut recording, Count The Wicked, earned them Folk Music Ensemble of the Year from the Canadian Folk Music Awards in 2017. Narrow Line (2022) and Reunion (2026) followed with equally lavish praise, resulting in prestigious appearances at major folk festivals.
