Bio
Laurie Kerr
Known for her powerful voice and soulful delivery, Laurie Kerr writes songs that move people. Drawn to Artists and songs that say something deeper about life, musical influences such as Bonnie Raitt, Sheryl Crow and Tom Petty, helped to shape her writing and eclectic brand of Americana. Born in Edmonton, Canada, Laurie played in the rock band China White before moving to Nashville where she lived and worked as a professional singer/songwriter for 19 years. She had staff writing deals, played regularly at the world-famous Bluebird Cafe, and hosted a series of songwriter nights in and around the Music City. Notably, she established a monthly show that brought attention and donations to an anti-sex trafficking organization called Free for Life International; a cause very near to her heart.
Over the years, Laurie’s written and shared the stage with artists from a broad array of musical genres; Andrew Gold, Tenille Townes, The Road Hammers, Colin Linden, Michelle Wright, Vince Ditrich (Spirit of the West), Russell deCarle, Duane Steele, Patricia Conroy, and many more.
Laurie returned to Canada and now lives in Kelowna, BC. She can be seen with her “Nashville Living-room Concerts series” performing at House Concerts and intimate venues throughout southern British Columbia and Alberta. You may have seen her as a regular guest on the Songwriter Stage at the Big Valley Jamboree for 6 years. Always the champion of up-and-coming artists, Laurie continues to support and write songs with new talent and makes regular songwriting trips to Nashville.
