Event Series: Andrew Smith and Bruce Wiebe
Andrew Smith and Bruce Wiebe

Andrew Smith has been fascinated by music and the guitar since he was a young kid, learning country and fiddle tunes at the knee of his dad. He has explored many styles over the years – diving into rabbit holes of folk, country, tap-style instrumental guitar music and traditional jazz. He always emerges from these musical studies with a new spin on familiar genres.
Now a seasoned musician, he incorporates these styles and sounds into his concerts in a way that surprises and delights audiences. His own songs and stories come from the heart and reveal his life journey in deeply personal ways. Andrew is one of the few Canadians to have won the prestigious Newfolk songwriter contest in the USA. He also tips his hat to his musical heros Django Rheinhart, Bruce Cockburn, Dave Brubeck and James Taylor with unique arrangements of classics.
At his concerts it’s not uncommon to hear gasps and murmurs from the audience when he plays tap-style with the guitar on his lap facing up, or thumbing a high energy funk tune that turns the acoustic guitar into a drum. The Saxony Times called his performance at the Dresden International Guitar Festival “world class!”.
What you get at an Andrew Smith concert is more than the sound of a skilled musician; you get a view into the heart, passion and journey of a lifelong artist.
Andrew is joined on stage by his longtime friend and exceptional guitarist, Bruce Wiebe. Bruce has forged his own signature sound on both electric and acoustic, which, along with his rich vocal harmonies, melds beautifully with Andrew’s music.
