Two Soulful warriors, one night of ska-folk

Grab a stool and let two of Western Canada’s most genre-bending front men take over the Red Bird stage this October. Brent Tyler & Jory Kinjo are bringing their signature blend of Soul, Ska, Folk, Funk, Roots, and Rocksteady to Kelowna for one night only, and the best part? It’s completely free.

Brent Tyler is a literal and musical giant on the Western Canadian scene. Standing at seven feet tall with a voice that reaches even higher, Tyler’s soulful hooks and dynamic vocal range will catch you off guard the moment he opens his mouth. His songwriting draws comparisons to Martin Sexton, Dave Matthews, and Jack Johnson, but his subject matter is all his own: heartbreak, hope, and healing, delivered with what fans have come to call Big Man, Big Sound, Big Love.

Jory Kinjo is a jazz-trained, road-tested musical force with an old-school presence and a modern edge. Pulling from the R&B and Soul catalogues of Motown and Stax, then twisting it through the crooked, infectious rhythms of Jamaican Ska, Reggae, and Rocksteady, Kinjo’s acoustic grooves ride easy while hitting hard. Expect Gin and Soda soul with Champagne chops and an attack mentality that makes every live set feel like an event.

Together, Tyler and Kinjo push each other’s musical boundaries, trading verses and breaking down genre walls in real time. It’s an eclectic, easy-on-the-ears, heavy-on-the-healing set that fits perfectly with the Red Bird ethos: no big screens to distract you, low enough volume to actually talk to the person next to you, and a diverse tap list to keep your glass full while two seasoned pals do what they do best.

This is a free, all-ages live music event in North Kelowna, so bring the family, bring your friends, and settle in with a wood-fired pizza, while Brent Tyler & Jory Kinjo turn a Thursday night into something memorable.
